About the Role
The Senior Accountant – Bangladesh is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of accounting, financial reporting, and compliance activities for ICT’s operations in Bangladesh. This role will manage general ledger integrity, statutory compliance, tax filings, and financial analysis, while supporting regional and group-level reporting.
The Senior Accountant will work closely with the finance team, management, auditors, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations in line with Bangladesh regulations and ICT’s internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. General Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, sub-ledgers, and balance sheet schedules.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing activities for Bangladesh books.
- Prepare financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports for management review.
- Support group consolidation by providing accurate, timely reporting to regional and HQ finance teams.
2. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Bangladesh tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and file tax returns (e.g., VAT, corporate income tax, withholding tax) within statutory deadlines.
- Liaise with tax authorities and external consultants as needed.
- Maintain proper documentation and support for all tax-related matters.
3. Payables, Receivables & Banking
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Review and approve invoices, expense claims, and payment runs.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Monitor cash flow, bank positions, and funding requirements.
4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts for Bangladesh operations.
- Analyze financial performance versus budget and prior periods; identify variances and provide explanations.
- Provide insights and recommendations to management to support cost control, margin improvement, and operational efficiency.
5. Audit, Controls & Governance
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, ensuring timely completion of audits.
- Prepare and provide required schedules, documentation, and explanations.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/Group policies) and company financial procedures.
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls over financial reporting and transaction processing.
6. Support & Administration
- Assist with payroll-related accounting and ensure correct posting of payroll expenses and provisions.
- Support finance-related queries from internal teams and management.
- Perform other finance and administrative duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with at least 2–3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Experience working with multinational or regional organizations is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Bangladesh accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax compliance in Bangladesh.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero, or similar).
- Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, basic modeling).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and work independently.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional and regional teams.
