- Collaborate with product design teams to provide feedback on manufacturability and cost implications.
- Support the transition of products from prototype to mass production.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide immediate solutions to minimize downtime.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure that they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Participate in root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Equipment and Tooling Management:
- Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of production equipment and tooling.
- Work with maintenance teams to ensure that machinery is running efficiently and any downtime is minimized.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements in machinery and technology to support product quality and productivity.
Cost Analysis and Budgeting:
- Prepare cost estimates for new manufacturing processes or equipment.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising product quality or safety.
- Help in the preparation and monitoring of the department's budget related to manufacturing activities.
Collaboration and Training:
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and logistics teams to optimize manufacturing operations.
- Train production staff on new processes, techniques, and equipment to ensure smooth transitions.
- Assist in the development of training materials and manuals for operators.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, and report on production data to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Use various analytical tools such as Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, or statistical process control (SPC) to optimize manufacturing processes.
