As a Technical Designer within the Chemical Process Solutions department, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D and 2D designs of process installations and components made from thermoplastic materials such as HDPE, PVC, and PP. You will translate functional and process requirements into accurate, production-ready technical drawings that meet quality, safety, and manufacturability standards.

You will support the engineering and production teams based in Belgium and are expected to work independently, proactively, and with strong communication skills in a remote setup.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Documentation

• Develop 3D models and 2D shop drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, ensuring compliance with internal standards and production feasibility.
• Design thermoplastic components and installations (PE, PP, PVC, PVDF, etc.).
• Apply DVS Technical Codes on Plastic Joining Technologies (DVS 2205) — training will be provided if not yet familiar.
• Prepare complete technical documentation and Bill of Materials (BOMs) with accurate article references.
• Ensure all documentation and drawings are clearly structured and in English, following Client standards.

Data and Process Management

• Support Autodesk Vault data management, ensuring correct file naming, version control, and data consistency.
• Implement automation or standardization in design workflows using Inventor iLogic and macros when applicable.

Collaboration

• Communicate effectively with colleagues in Belgium via Teams and shared digital platforms.
• Participate in remote design coordination meetings and provide progress updates.
• Track work hours accurately using the 24Flow Digital Factory system.

Continuous Learning

• Learn and apply DVS 2205 principles and standards.
• Develop familiarity with B-Solid and Ardis Optimizer software (training provided).
• Stay up to date with client evolving design standards and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical design or mechanical engineering, preferably using Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience in process or plastic construction is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English.
• Prior experience working remotely with international teams is preferred.

Technical Knowledge:

• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.
• Working knowledge of Autodesk Vault.
• Basic to intermediate experience with Inventor iLogic or macro-based automation.
• Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Strong understanding of thermoplastic materials and design principles.
• Familiarity with production and assembly processes for plastic piping, tanks, and process installations.
• Basic knowledge of internal stress, creep behavior, thermal expansion, and chemical compatibility of thermoplastics.
