The Safety Officer III is responsible for leading the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the company’s occupational safety and health (OSH) programs within a large-scale food and beverage manufacturing environment. This role ensures full compliance with government regulations, industry standards, and company policies to maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the company’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs across production, logistics, and support operations.
- Conduct and oversee regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
- Serve as the primary safety focal point during government inspections (DOLE, DENR, BFP, LGU) and coordinate compliance documentation and reports.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe incidents, determine root causes, and establish preventive and corrective actions.
- Develop and conduct safety training programs, toolbox meetings, emergency drills, and employee orientations to promote a culture of safety awareness.
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and inventory of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety-related devices.
- Prepare and submit mandatory safety reports such as Annual Medical Reports, WEM, and OSH compliance documentation to relevant agencies.
- Participate in environmental management initiatives such as waste segregation, pollution control, and energy conservation programs.
- Collaborate with the Plant Manager, HR, and EHS Committee in developing policies that align with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management).
- Mentor and supervise Safety Officers I and II in implementing site-level safety programs.
Responsibilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or any related technical field.
- Must be a DOLE-accredited Safety Officer III with relevant BWC training certificates.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in food, beverage, or manufacturing industries.
- In-depth knowledge of RA 11058, DO 198-18, and other applicable OSH laws and regulations.
- Proven experience in incident investigation, safety audits, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office applications and safety documentation systems.
- Willing to travel to different plant or site locations as required by operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor or Environmental Management (ISO 14001).
- Trained in Emergency Response, First Aid, and Fire Safety.
- Experience in managing multi-site or plant-wide safety programs.
