Promoting healthy and safe working methods and practices in the workplace.
Ensuring state-of-the-art health and safety compliance across the whole organization.
Identifying, recording and reporting hazards, accidents, injuries and health issues.
Assisting with investigation of accidents, studying possible causes and providing remedial advice.
Conducting health and safety training sessions for management, supervisors and workers.
Assisting with rehabilitation of workers after accidents and overseeing their successful return to work.
Coordinating emergency procedures and first aid crews.
Developing OHS plans and monitoring compliance.
Inspecting workplace and related tools and equipment to ensure compliance with regulations.

Physically and mentally fit to undertake the duties and responsibilities of a safety officer. This is because you are going to develop and implement safety and health programs in the workplace which requires strong physical and mental health.
Possess good moral character and reputation. This is because they are entrusted with the safety and well-being of workers.
Undergo required training.
Mandatory Eight-Hour Safety and Health Seminar for Workers
Prescribed OSH Training Course for Safety Officer 1 (BOSH SO1)
40-hour Mandatory Basic Occupational Safety and Health for Safety Officer 2 (BOSH SO2)
40-hour Mandatory Training for the Construction Industry (COSH SO2)
Complete the government-mandated basic training on OSH. This 40-hour seminar will equip you with knowledge in safety basics, job hazard analysis, and emergency preparedness.
