The Safety Officer 2 ensures that all construction activities comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS), company policies, and site-specific safety programs. The SO2 monitors site conditions, conducts inspections, and implements safety measures to prevent workplace accidents and maintain a safe environment for all workers.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Monitoring & Inspection

• Conduct daily site safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHS and project safety policies.
• Identify unsafe acts and conditions, recommend corrective actions, and monitor implementation.
• Ensure workers use proper PPE and follow established safety procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare Daily Safety Reports, incident/near-miss reports, toolbox meeting minutes, and inspection checklists.
• Maintain accurate and updated safety records as required by DOLE and project management.
• Assist in preparing permits (e.g., Hot Work Permit, Confined Space Entry Permit).

Training & Communication

• Conduct or assist in Toolbox Meetings, safety orientations, and emergency drills.
• Communicate safety reminders and updates to workers and supervisors regularly.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure workers understand site rules and protocols.

Incident Management

• Respond to accidents or near-miss incidents; assist in first-aid response if trained.
• Participate in root-cause analyses and recommend preventive measures.
• Coordinate with the Safety Officer 3 or Project Manager on critical safety concerns.

Coordination & Compliance

• Work closely with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure safety integration in site activities.
• Check compliance of subcontractors with safety requirements before work starts.
• Support implementation of the Construction Safety and Health Program (CSHP).

Specifications:

• Must meet the DOLE qualifications for Safety Officer 2 (e.g., 40-hr BOSH Training for SO2 or equivalent).
• Preferably 1–3 years experience in construction safety; fresh BOSH graduates may be considered.
• Knowledge of Philippine OSHS, DOLE rules, and construction safety practices.
• Strong observation, communication, and reporting skills.
• Physically fit to monitor site activities daily.
• Willing to work on-site full-time.
• Must have a proactive attitude toward identifying and resolving safety issues.
• First Aid Training certification is an advantage.
