Job Overview:

The Systems Engineer is responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining critical IT systems, including Cisco-based networking and infrastructure technologies. This role involves designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex systems, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability of the network and server infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

- System Configuration & Management: Design, configure, and maintain Cisco-based networking systems (routers, switches, firewalls) and associated infrastructure.

- Network & Systems Integration: Integrate Cisco systems with other hardware/software solutions to provide end-to-end solutions for clients.

- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor network and system performance to ensure efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide in-depth troubleshooting for Cisco network hardware, including analyzing network traffic and resolving performance bottlenecks.

- Security: Implement security policies, conduct risk assessments, and ensure systems are secured against external threats using Cisco’s security solutions.

- Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation related to system architecture, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (including network engineers and IT support staff) to implement solutions and resolve issues.

- Upgrades & Patches: Perform upgrades and patches on Cisco network devices and related systems to ensure the latest software versions and security updates.

Skills & Qualifications:

- Proven experience with Cisco hardware and software solutions (routers, switches, firewalls).

- Strong knowledge of Cisco networking protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, etc.).

- Solid understanding of systems engineering principles, including operating systems, storage, and server architecture.

- Experience with Cisco security solutions (ASA, Firepower, Identity Services Engine) is highly desirable.

- Familiarity with data center operations, including virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud technologies.

- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE are highly preferred.

- Ability to troubleshoot complex system and network issues effectively.

- Strong understanding of network and systems monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, etc.).

Desired Experience:

- 4-6 years of experience in systems engineering, specifically with Cisco solutions.

- Hands-on experience working with large-scale networks and complex IT systems.

- Background in supporting enterprise-level Cisco solutions.
